Crusade

"I absolutely loved this book.

As an historian, I appreciated the accuracy of the depiction of medieval life and the way the Crusades affected people from all walks of life. This is, however, far from just any old historical fiction, this is an epic tale that grips from start to finish.

The story develops along two parallel tracks: one follows Adam, a serf of an English baron; the other traces the steps of Salim, a Muslim boy from the city of Acre. They each have their own adventures involving highs and lows and eventually their paths converge and the conclusion sees them on a quest together.

The tale, despite having two distinct story lines, is always easy to read and thoroughly enjoyable: in fact this book was very hard to put down and I probably neglected several holiday jobs in order to finish it."
