Governing Body
Following the school having been identified as requiring Special Measures, following the Ofsted inspection in January, the local authority, as part of the recovery plan, have sought permission from the Secretary of State for Education to stand down the governing body and replace it with an Interim Executive Board (IEB). As the decision is still pending, the governing body remains in existence and three additional governors have been appointed by the local authority to add capacity to the governing body.
Governors who attended a meeting recently approved the forming of an Ofsted Recovery Committee, (ORC) to replace existing governing body committees. The ORC has responsibility for the budget, the curriculum, staffing and performance management and the appointment of the headteacher. The ORC will remain in place until approval is granted to form the IEB and the IEB will remain in place until the school is removed from Special Measures and a new governing body is formed. The Chair of the ORC is Graham Lund and he can be contacted via the school.
Currently, the ORC is working with the Executive Headteacher and senior staff to address the key issues in the inspection report. The Committee is also in the process of appointing a new headteacher to take up the appointment from January 2011. Interviews will be held in July.
Further information on any further developments will be posted on the website.
