School Uniform

Students wear a black v-necked jumper inscribed with the school logo. There are four different versions of the jumper to incorporate the house that students are in. This is distinguished by a coloured logo on the left sleeve, Blue for Bretton, Green for Cannon, Red for Wentworth and Yellow for Tankersley.

School ties are compulsory for all students and are also available in house colours.

Students must wear black trousers and black shoes. Jeans, combat trousers and trainers are not allowed.

In the summer, students are allowed to wear a white polo shirt inscribed with the school logo.

For PE, students wear a polo shirt inscribed with the school logo, in the colour of their house with a matching sweatshirt for outdoor work. Black tracksuit bottoms and/or shorts must be worn with trainers. Football boots are also required for some activities.

Socks are not part of our uniform. What is meant by this is, that they are not mentioned in the uniform code. The Headteacher has told all staff to use their professional discretion and simply ask students wearing outrageous socks to wear normal ones by the following day.

Our uniform does specify that if something is worn over the blouse/shirt/pullover, it must be a weather-proof jacket, rather than a tracksuit top or similar. In the past, when students have been seen in an inappropriate top we simply asked them to remove it and put it in their bags. However we noticed that many of these students simply put them back on round the corner! As a consequence we have sometimes confiscated these tops until lunch or the end of the school day.

The school receives 10% commision from sales of uniform and other items bearing the school logo from Wishing Well. These funds are used to benefit students in school.
